I have wanted to journal about my classroom for years and now I am finally doing it (the new age way)! I hear and see the funniest things everyday and LOVE sharing these stories. I hope this will be a quick and fun way to share with everyone what I get to experience on a daily basis, as well as document for years to come some of the greatest things that happen to me everyday :)

Student: “What’s your real name?
Me: “Ms. Robison, that is my name.”
Student: “No, like your REAL name, your other name.” (emphasized)
Me: “Well, Ms. Hayden I guess.” (although these students have never known me as Ms. Hayden)
Student: “Ok, that’s your real name then.”
I don’t know where or how this came up, but I think maybe they were meaning to ask me my first name. After this conversation, life in the classroom went on as usual, and they have not referred to me as Ms. Hayden…yet. I just wonder, what they do with this information?
Often my kids will ask me how old I am. I have never felt it necessary for my kids to know this (especially when I was teaching at the ripe old age of 21). The past few years, when they ask me how old I am, I take my real age and reverse it. This often brings up some interesting conversations. Today was no exception, and my kids this year have finally asked my age. So, I told them I am 72. All believed me (usually I have some skeptics) and one responded with, “Dang, you look good! You look like you’re 32!”. My thought: Wonderful, I look older than I really am L At least to them I look young…
